Michel Cluizel Cherry Liqueur Bonbons

A spirited bonbon for your valentine

Forget the chocolate-covered cherries available near the checkout at the grocery store. Those are fine for a quick pick-me-up on a hard day, but if you want to make his heart swoon, give him a chocolate-covered Morello cherry from Michel Cluizel chocolates. One bite, one burst of heady, extreme cherry liqueur flavor, one long melting moment of dark-chocolate goodness, and he's yours. This bonbon actually inspired the opening of Chocolat Michel Cluizel in New York: Chocolate "sommelier" and co-owner Richard Perl opened the store with a full liquor license so he could sell the spirited bonbons. Also available is the Raisin Alu, a bonbon that packs a wallop of grapey flavor in its grape-soaked-in-Vieux Marc interior, and bonbons infused with Calvados, cognac, Cointreau, framboise, Grand Marnier, kirsch, rum and whiskey. Available by calling 212-477-7335 or from chocolatemichelcluizel-na.com.
