Monte Antico 2001 Toscana

Imported by Empson USA,Alexandria, VA; about $11.99.

Daylight Savings Time is right around the corner, but we're not quite out of the dark yet. That's why its good to have a red on hand like Monte Antico, a Sangiovese-based wine from Tuscany, Italy, that can warm up cold, dark nights as easily as it can dance on a sunny spring day. Juicy and ripe, it has enough red cherry flavors to take on a meatball sub, yet it's also frisky and light enough to match a ham sandwich. It's the sort of wine you might want to keep in stock all the time, especially at $11.99 (and often less.)
