A-Mano 2002 Puglia Primitivo

Imported by Empson USA, Alexandria, VA; about $11.

Italy's boot is producing some of the most exciting wines on the market today, and this is one of them. It radiates the sunny warmth of this dry southern region with juicy, super-ripe black plum flavors, smooth save for an intriguing kick of spice. The lush flavors can stand up to burgers with blue cheese, though they go down so smoothly they don't need any food at all.
